Today it has been 3 months since we first held Jia in our arms... I think I say this every update, but it feels like she's been here forever! Such an amazing journey! What is one to do to show their gratefulness to the One who made it all possible? Hmmm... working on that now! Maybe in my 100 days update, I'll have more to share!
Yesterday Jia had her appointment at the International Adoption clinic at CMH. I can't even describe to you how wonderfully that went! First, the doctor that she seen had adopted a girl from China with the exact SN as Jia! He was able to tell us all about her care and the things we will be looking forward to with Jia. He was so kind and we felt so lucky to have seen him.
He ordered some lab work and we had to go next door for that. Jia was so brave! She sat on my lap while the lab tech didthe blood draw. At first the stuck Jia on the inside of right elbow. Mommy was almost in tears just dreading what was to come... but it never happened! She didn't even flinch, let alone cry! I think they got 2 viles before her vein collapsed and they weren't able to draw anymore. So she had to try another spot. Little Miss Jia just smiled at her and held up her left arm to be stuck. She did soooo incredibly good! They collected 6 viles in all and not a single tear!
The Dr. in the IA clinic recommended we go ahead and see someone in speech and hearing. He figured we would have to make another trip for that, but he called to check anyway. Turns out, they got us right in that morning after our IA clinic appointment. They talked to us about the BAHA and did a speech and hearing test on Jia. They said all things point to her inner ear being fine and would be a candidate for ear reconstruction at a later age! That's great news! So for now, we will get an appointment with an ENT and proceed with the BAHA.
So things are going great and we are more in love everyday! We're so proud of Jia for all her courage and braveness! Such a wonderful daughter!
Enjoy the 'Gotcha/Forever Family Day' photos!

Glad to hear your appointment went well! Those are always so stressful. Meah is getting ready for her phase 2 BAHA surgery in October. I think it is going to be incredible for her. Are they going to give Jia the BAHA headbands? They never offered those to Meah, I guess because of her age. Love all the pictures!
